Discover the Thrill of Sar Pass
Embark on an epic high-altitude traverse through the heart of the Parvati Valley. From the hidden charm of Grahan Village to the legendary snow slides of Sar Pass, experience a journey that perfectly blends adrenaline, ancient culture, and breathtaking Himalayan vistas.
Altitude: Kasol (1,700 m) to Grahan Village (2,350 m)
Drive: 8 km | 45 min Trek: 2 km | 1 hr
Your adventure begins in the vibrant town of Kasol. A short, winding drive brings you to the starting point of the trek, where you leave the road behind. The trail follows the crystal-clear Grahan Nallah through lush forests. The gentle climb rewards you with your first glimpse of life in Grahan Village, where you'll spend the night immersed in silence and genuine mountain hospitality.
Altitude: Grahan Village (2,350 m) to Min Thatch (3,400 m)
Trek Distance: 8 km | 5-6 hrs
Today, the trail climbs steeply out of the village, entering a world of dense oak and rhododendron forests. As you gain altitude, the trees give way to the sprawling alpine meadows of Min Thatch. This high-altitude grazing ground offers spectacular views of the valley below and the snow-capped summits that seem to draw closer with every step.
Altitude: Min Thatch (3,400 m) to Nagaru (3,800 m)
Trek Distance: 5 km | 4-5 hrs
A short but heart-pumping climb takes you to Nagaru, the highest campsite on the trek. Perched precariously on a ridge, Nagaru feels like it's on top of the world. The air here is thin and fresh, and as the sun sets over the distant peaks, you'll witness one of the most magical twilight displays the Parvati Valley has to offer.
Altitude: Nagaru (3,800 m) to Sar Pass (4,200 m) to Biskeri Thach (3,350 m)
Trek Distance: 12 km | 7-8 hrs
The big summit day! We push towards the magnificent Sar Pass (13,600 ft) across vast stretches of gleaming snow. Reaching the top is an emotional moment, with a 360-degree panorama of the Himalayas surrounding you. Then comes the highlight: the legendary snow slide! A thrilling descent across the slopes brings you down to the lush, green meadows of Biskeri Thach for a celebratory night.
Altitude: Biskeri Thach (3,350 m) to Pulga (2,400 m)
Trek: 6 km | 4-5 hrs Drive: 18 km | 1 hr
On your final day, you descend through the serene 'Fairyland' forests towards Pulga. The trail is gentle and exceptionally scenic, with waterfalls and old wooden houses dotting the path. After a brief exploration of the village and a farewell to the mountains, a vehicle awaits to drive you back to Kasol. You'll return with a heart full of stories and the spirit of the Sar Pass traverse.
