Drive Distance: 195 km | 8 - 9 hr

Bawta commonly refers to a village in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh, India, known as a stopover on the Rupin Pass trek. The term also comes from Urdu, meaning a flag or signal, and is used in other contexts like music, jewellery design, and business names.

Jakha, a beautiful hanging village in Himachal Pradesh, is a highlight of the Rupin Pass Trek. Known for its steep tiered houses and pristine riverside location along the Rupin, this rustic settlement lies about 10 hours from Shimla followed by a 4-hour scenic hike. The village offers stunning views and authentic Himalayan cultural experiences.

Saruwas Thatch, a picturesque alpine meadow at 10,700-11,150 feet, is one of the most beautiful campsites on the Rupin Pass Trek. Located in Himachal Pradesh, this high-altitude meadow features verdant grasslands, seasonal wildflowers, and stunning views of the Rupin River valley, making it a trekker's paradise.

Dandreyash Thatch, positioned at 3,550 meters (11,700 feet), is one of the most scenic campsites on the Rupin Pass Trek. This vast alpine meadow in Himachal Pradesh offers unparalleled views of the spectacular three-tiered Rupin Waterfall, surrounded by majestic mountain peaks on all sides.

Upper Waterfall Camp at 4,050 meters (13,300 feet) is one of the highest campsites on the Rupin Pass Trek. Located at the upper tier of the stunning Rupin Waterfall system, this campsite offers trekkers spectacular views and the unique experience of camping beside a powerful high-altitude cascade.
Altitude Upper Waterfall: 4,050 m / 13,300 ft.

The trek from Upper Waterfall Camp to Ronti Gad via the Rupin Pass(approx. 15,380 ft) is the most challenging and rewarding stretch of the journey. This section involves an early start, a steep and technical climb through snow gullies, and a sharp descent into the beautiful Ronti Gad meadows, offering a perfect mix of adventure and breathtaking scenery.

The trek from Ronti Gad to Sangla is a 10–12 km descent that takes around 5–6 hours, dropping from over 13,000 ft to about 8,660 ft. This stretch offers stunning views of the Kinner Kailash Range, as the trail gradually transitions from high-altitude meadows like Sangla Kanda into dense pine forests, eventually leading to the picturesque villages of Sangla.
