Altitude Sankri: 1,950 m/ 6,400 ft.
Drive Distance: 200 km | 9-10 hrs.
Your Har Ki Dun adventure begins with a beautiful and thrilling drive from Dehradun to Sankri. Winding through the spectacular valleys of the Yamuna and Tons rivers, the journey immerses you in the raw beauty of the Garhwal Himalayas. Sankri, a picturesque village nestled in the Govind Pashu Vihar National Park, serves as our serene basecamp where you can acclimatize and take in the magnificent sunset views over the mountains.
Altitude Osla: 2,750 m/ 9,000 ft | Dharkot: 2,500 m / 8,400 ft.
Drive Distance: 24 km | 2 hrs | Trek Distance: 8 km | 5-6 hrs.
After an early breakfast, we embark on a short scenic drive from Sankri to Dharkot, the official starting point of our trek. From Dharkot, the trail beautifully follows the pristine Supin River. Trekking through deeply shaded woodlands of pine and walnut, you'll pass ancient wooden bridges and cascading waterfalls before arriving at the culturally rich and historic Osla village, renowned for its distinct wooden architecture.
Altitude Seematra: 3,250 m/ 10,800 ft.
Trek Distance: 7 km | 4-5 hrs.
Leaving Osla behind, the path steadily ascends through some of the most enchanting and lush landscapes of the valley. As we gain altitude towards Seematra, the majestic Swargarohini and Bandarpoonch massifs slowly reveal themselves in all their glory. Seematra offers a breathtaking, wide Alpine meadow perfect for camping under the stars, surrounded by towering, snow-capped peaks and the calming sounds of mountain streams.
Altitude Har Ki Dun: 3,500 m/ 11,600 ft.
Trek Distance: 8 km (both sides) | 6-7 hrs.
Today is the most anticipated day as we trek to the legendary Har Ki Dun—the 'Valley of Gods'. The trail gently unfolds into a colossal, sweeping glacial valley brimming with vibrant wildflowers and flanked by immense mountain faces. At 11,600 feet, you'll be treated to overwhelmingly beautiful, up-close panoramas of Swargarohini before retracing your steps back to Seematra, carrying memories of an absolutely breathtaking landscape.
Altitude Pauni Gharat: 2,500 m / 8,300 ft.
Trek Distance: 8-9 km | 4-5 hrs.
As we begin our descent, the trail treats us to a completely different perspective of the valley. Navigating back through thick forests and alpine clearings, we make our way down to Pauni Gharat. This riverside campsite offers immense tranquility and a much warmer climate compared to higher altitudes, making it a perfect spot to relax beside the soothing Supin River and reflect on the high-altitude wonders you've just witnessed.
Altitude Sankri: 1,950 m / 6,400 ft.
Trek Distance: 3-4 km | 2-3 hrs | Drive Distance: 24 km | 2 hrs.
Continuing our descent from Pauni Gharat, you'll take a short, easy walk down the beautifully forested slopes back to Dharkot. Upon reaching the roadhead, we'll hop onto our vehicles for a quick, nostalgic 24 km drive back into the comforting arms of Sankri. Spend your evening celebrating the successful completion of the trek, exploring the vibrant local culture, and resting in the welcoming village atmosphere.
Drive Distance: 200 km | 9-10 hrs.
We bid a fond farewell to the serene mountains of Sankri and begin our journey back to Dehradun. The long, incredibly scenic drive gives you ample time to look back upon the soaring peaks, deep valleys, and lush meadows of Govind Pashu Vihar. You will reach Dehradun feeling accomplished, revitalized, and forever connected to the spectacular 'Valley of Gods'.
