Altitude: Manali (1,950 m) to Rumsu (2,100 m / 6,800 ft)
Drive Distance: 29 km | 2 hrs
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Manali to the beautiful, ancient village of Rumsu. Known for its traditional wooden houses and deep-rooted culture, Rumsu serves as our serene basecamp. Spend the evening exploring the village, meeting locals, and preparing for the adventure ahead amidst the tranquil mountain atmosphere.
Altitude: Rumsu (2,100 m) to Naya Tapru (3,200 m / 10,600 ft)
Trek Distance: 4-5 km | 3-4 hrs
The trek officially commences as we ascend from Rumsu Village. The trail winds through dense forests of oak, cedar, and rhododendron, offering occasional glimpses of the valley below. We eventually emerge onto the wide, lush alpine meadows of Naya Tapru, where our campsite offers spectacular views and a peaceful retreat into nature.
Altitude: Naya Tapru (3,200 m) to Chaklani Camp (3,400 m / 11,400 ft)
Trek Distance: 2 km | 3 hrs
Today is a relatively short but meaningful climb to Chaklani Camp. As we gain altitude, the trees give way to rocky outcrops and vast meadows. Chaklani is an incredible vantage point, providing panoramic views of the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges. We'll set up camp here and enjoy a breathtaking sunset over the snow-capped peaks.
Altitude: Pass (3,700 m / 12,100 ft)
Trek Distance: 3 km up | 5 km down (7-8 hrs total)
The summit day! We push towards the magnificent Chandrakhani Pass. The final ascent is rewarding, leading us to a point where all the major peaks of the region—Deo Tibba, Indrasan, and the Hanuman Tibba—seem within reach. After soaking in the 360-degree views, we begin our descent back through the meadows, returning to our cozy camp at Naya Tapru for the night.
Altitude: Descent to Rumsu (2,100 m)
